The more I use Windows 7, the more I love it. It’s so great. Really, it is. Ditch whatever your primary OS is and run Windows 7.

I’ve installed the 64-bit version on my laptop and I’ve had nothing but a good time. I like the new start/task bar and after getting used to the pinned icons and how they work, it’s really a great feature.

The whole thing is so stable and quick – I only have 2GB of memory and not like that’s a small amount but if I recall, the system was not as responsive when running Vista 32-bit.

I have only had a few issues, namely the Cisco VPN client doesn’t work on Windows 7 in 64-bit, and also the Cisco ASA ActiveX control that we use to remote in to work doesn’t work either. So, get with it Cisco. Lame.

To deal with this shortcoming, I went ahead and installed VMware Workstation 6.5 with a guest Windows XP VM so I could use the VPN client when I need to remote in to work. Apparently NAT in Workstation 6.5 on Windows 7 doesn’t quite work but doing some host-only networking on the VM connected to Windows7 Internet Connection Sharing works really well. The first search for “vmware workstation 6.5 nat” turns up Tiensivu’s blog post about how to get VMware Worktation 6.5 Guest VM NAT working on Windows 7 using the method I just described.

The other issue I had I think was related to Google toolbar and IE8 not working so well. But I went ahead and installed Google Chrome and FireFox3 so no big deal.

Yeah, win7 with 8gb ram would be cool, and intensedebate is really awesome. They did a great job with it. I've had it for awhile but no one ever comments haha. Yeah, you should get it.
